There's a lot of variety on Sri Lanka's restaurant scene, particularly in Colombo. It can be very cheap to eat out here if you stick to local establishments.
Visiting these eateries will also give you the chance to sample delicious and authentic - but often very spicy - Sri Lankan dishes.
Note: The biggest problem is eating out and forgetting about the additional 28% that's going to be added. If tax isn't included in the price on a menu.
It always says in small print at the bottom that taxes 15% VAT and 3% NBT and service charge 10% will be added so then you know to add 28% to the menu prices you see.
If you don't see this then the price should be the same as what you see on the menu. If you are unsure just ask the waiter.
