Haththikuchchi Viharaya is one of the most important archaeological sites and one of the oldest Buddhist temple complexes in Sri Lanka. Although only ruins are left of this once-magnificent temple complex, it remains to be one of the most visited areas in this island nation.  More than ruins, however, it imparts historical significance and a story that will tug at anyone’s heart. This temple complex is in Mahalgalkadawala near Galgamuwa, Kurunegala.
